The Manatees coaches led by Cedar’s Athletic Director and UEFA A football coach returned from the GPS Caribbean Showcase tournament this past weekend. Manatees coaches included Cedar parents Walter Reich, Alessandro Palladino, Jose Santos and Gary Salter.

This year saw the Manatees collaborate with the BVI FA. Given the high level of tournament standard – it was agreed that tryouts for the team would be extended beyond the Manatees Saturday program to include all football superstars from across Tortola and Virgin Gorda.

“We are proud of the Cedar kids that made the respective U11 boys, U13 girls and U13 boys teams” noted Coach John Reilly. “It is a testament to our football program at Cedar as well as the volunteer Manatees program run each and every Saturday for the past 11+ years that many Cedar kids attend”.

For the U11 boys – Cedar students who made the team included Azarni Callwood, Oliver Henderson, Nici Haycraft, Sebby Santos, Ryan Lettsome (Captain), Dylan Sorrentino, Rush Broderick, Takara Wood and Alex Salter.

For the U13 girls – Cedar students who made the team included Tola Broderick (Captain), Alisha Ayres, Tinia Van Zoost, Georgia Jermyn, Freya Childs, Ariel Mohamed, Darci Reich, Gabbi Jermyn and Caren Odhiambo.

For the U13 boys – Cedar students who made the team included Jesse Cooke, RJ Wong-Williams, Michael Palladino, Nathan Haycraft, Luka Chalwell (Captain), Alex Fox and Connor MacCallum.

Luca Reich and Alejandro Santos made the U15 BVI FA National Team for the tournament. Liam Blok played for the Islanders in the U17 category. Leo Forte entered the team as a guest player and played for a local Puerto Rico side in the U19 category.

The GPS Caribbean Showcase was a great tournament that saw both the U11 and U13 girls just miss out on getting to the championship game.
