Need-based Scholarships
Cedar International School believes that quality education should be accessible to as many families as possible. Cedar therefore offers a limited amount of need-based scholarship awards to those families unable to afford full tuition fees. While Cedar receives some financial support from generous foundations, companies and individuals to help underwrite the Need-based Scholarship awards, the overwhelming majority of such aid is currently unfunded, and thus underwritten by the school. Applications must therefore be vetted carefully to ensure aid is going to those families with demonstrated need. Applications are reviewed by a small committee, consisting of the School Director, the Admissions Officer, and the school’s Financial Controller, who keep the information in the strictest of confidence.
Cedar considers that it is the responsibility of the parent(s) or guardian(s) of students to set their children’s education at a high priority. Therefore when assessing financial need, the Need-based Scholarship Committee will consider how parents prioritise essential and non-essential expenses. Space available in the grade may also impact award allocation. All awards are made for a single academic year, and are contingent on the student remaining in academic, behavioural, and financial good standing. Applications must be re-submitted each academic year or whenever family circumstances change that may impact the need for aid.
